NASCAR  FAQ - the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR)

Founded in 1947-48 by Bill France Sr. NASCAR is a business venture that sanctions and governs multiple automobile racing sports events. A family-owned and operated business, the current CEO for NASCAR is Brian France, grandson of the late Bill France Sr.

Auto racing is one of the most watched sports on television today. NASCAR is the largest sanctioning body of stock car racing in the United States. NASCAR sanctions over 1,500 races at over 100 tracks in 39 states, Canada and Mexico.  The three largest racing series sanctioned by NASCAR are the Camping World Truck Series, Nationwide Series and the Sprint Cup. NASCAR also oversees NASCAR Local Racing, the Whelen Modified Tour and the Whelen All-American Series.

Headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida, NASCAR also maintains offices in four North Carolina cities: Charlotte, Mooresville, Concord and Conover. Regional NASCAR offices are located in Bentonville, Arkansas, Los Angles and New York City. International offices are in Mexico City and Toronto.  With deep southern roots, the majority of NASCAR teams are based in North Carolina, home of Hedgecock Racing Enterprises and Hedgecock Racing Academy.

Hedgecock Racing Enterprises was founded by entrepreneur and stock car industry veteran, Jay Hedgecock. Jay began his career building and racing his own cars, working his way up to Winston Cup using equipment and cars that he and his crew built themselves. Jay has won over 200 races. Through this process, Jay developed a reputation for building great cars and other drivers and team owners started coming to him for their fabrication needs.

In high demand, Jay started his fabrication business in 1983 in High Point, NC. Since then, Jay and his company, Hedgecock Racing Enterprises, has been a leader in the industry in stock car fabrication. Jay and his team have built cars for Richard Petty, Dale Earnhart, Sr., as well as trucks for Mark Martin's son, Matt Martin. Hedgecock Racing Enterprises has built over 1,000 race cars since 1983. Jay’s customers have won over 750 races in the race cars he has built.

Jay identified a shortage of well-trained stock car fabricators and decided to do something about it. The Hedgecock Racing Acadmey Stock Car Fabrication Certification training program is designed exclusively to train students for entry-level positions in the motor sports industry including NASCAR racing teams such as: NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck series and other racing series.

An accelerated 9-week power packed hands-on fabrication certification program, Hedgecock Racing Academy simulates the real-life action packed and fast pace of working for a stockcar race team! Training is hands on and is conducted in a real race team shop working as a team. Weeks are dedicated to building a race car from scratch and track testing it as a class, offering the real-life skills needed to work in the motor sports industry!

Because of the high intensity of Jay's certification programs, space is limited to approx 50-60 students per year. First Come, First Serve. A huge differentiator, at Hedgecock Racing Academy there is no money or time wasted teaching skills that are not needed or used in the racing industry!  Compare Hedgecock’s Stockcar Fabrication Certification program to the competition and you will find that the hands-on training Hedgecock offers with today’s race cars is unparallel versus their competition who include street engines and other non-racing industry cars.

With placement rates of over 70%, read what some of Hedgecock Racing Academy’s graduates have to say about the premier stock car fabrication training and certification center in the motor sports industry.
